Bazu Product Update: Smart Progressive Overload + Free Tier Upgrades

Hi everyone,

This release is about making Bazu more useful every time you step into the gym. Smart Progressive Overload is the headline feature — it tells you what to aim for next, based on how your recent sessions actually went. Alongside it, we've added full exercise detail pages and moved unlimited Personal Records and 1RM estimates into the free tier.

Open Bazu to get the update.

Feature spotlight: Smart Progressive Overload

Knowing you need to progress is easy. Knowing exactly what to aim for next — the right weight, the right rep target — is the part that usually requires guesswork. Smart Progressive Overload closes that gap.

It watches your recent performance and gives you a specific recommendation for each set: whether to build reps at your current weight or step up to the next load. The logic adapts to how you train, not a fixed schedule.

Included in Bazu Premium.

Increase Weight

When you've hit your rep target consistently, Bazu surfaces a recommendation to increase load — with the suggested next weight shown directly on the logging screen. No manual calculation, no guessing whether you've earned the jump.

Build Reps

Not yet at the rep target? Bazu shows you the reps to aim for this session before adding weight. This keeps progression honest: you earn the weight increase by building capacity first, rather than chasing load before you're ready.

Supports Bodyweight

For exercises like pull-ups, push-ups, and dips, there's no load to adjust. Bazu recommends rep targets to keep you making progress over time, so bodyweight movements get the same structured progression as weighted ones.

Smart Progressive Overload is included in Bazu Premium. You can try Premium free for 2 weeks directly in the app.

Exercise detail pages

Every exercise in Bazu now has its own detail page, giving you history, stats, and how-to guidance in one place. You can see your best sets, track trends over time, and access step-by-step instructions — useful for checking form on less familiar movements without leaving the app.

Videos and images are now available for select exercises, so the guidance is visual where it counts.

Unlimited PRs and 1RM estimates are now free

Personal Records and estimated one-rep max calculations are now included in the free tier with no limits. Every time you set a new PR, Bazu logs it. Your 1RM estimates update as your performance changes.

These were previously gated features. Moving them to free means every Bazu user has a complete record of their best lifts and a running estimate of their strength ceiling — whether they use Premium or not.

Also in this release

  • Better workout reliability, including stronger recovery for sessions that were interrupted or left in progress.

If Bazu has earned it

If Bazu has made your training more intentional, a quick App Store review goes a long way. It's the main reason other serious lifters find the app.
